 Burger Battle of the Boroughs

With much media attention at Dish du Jour Magazine's annual food event, clicking their cameras and conducting interviews, the first ever Burger Battle of the Boroughs was a successful event. After 40 minutes of cooking and smoke a winner emerges  -  Harry's at Water Taxi Beach in Long Island City.

The contest was close with seven contenders giving it their best shot cooking their prized burgers in unfamiliar territory, but being the pros that they are, they all did it with a touch of class.  Congratulations are in order for everyone.

The judges - Arthur Schwartz, Chef Terrence Brennan, Tony Tantillo, Josh Ozersky and Kelly Choi who had her camera crew filming for her show Eat Out NY, all seemed to have a good time tasting and rating.

Emcee's, George Motz entertained us with his burger knowledge and Dish du Jour culinary editor Chef Armand conducted mini interviews with our celebrity panel of judges.  Bravo! Keeping the crowd engaged is not an easy thing to do and they did it well.

Councilman Peter Vallone who attended the event, welcomed everyone to Astoria and invited the people to come back to dine at the restaurants who participated in the event.

In spite of fighting heavy rain fall and horrible traffic conditions everyone not only made it there, but also dressed their tables to the nines and laid out a spread for everyone to enjoy.  As for the food which satisfied the hungry attendees coming straight from work in most cases - the restaurants all provided a feast for the eyes as well as the palate that everyone raved about.  The food varied and there was good representation from many different cuisines and restaurants, including a few from Brooklyn and Long Island.  Great stuff guys!

There was plenty of wine and beer with a great array of sweets to end a great evening.

And here are the photos...
